Department of Molecular Biology, UT Southwestern Medical Center
Ning completed her PhD in Cancer Biology at University of Wisconsin under the supervision of Dan Loeb. She then completed her post-doctoral training in the lab of Eric Olson at UT Southwestern Medical Centre. Ning joined the faculty of Department of Molecular Biology as an Assistant Professor in 2012 and was promoted to Professor in 2024.
Ning’s research is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of cardiac and skeletal muscle disease such as cardiomyopathies and congenital myopathies. She is actively involved in using genomic editing approaches to correct mutations in cardiac disease and skeletal muscle dystrophy. Ning has a long-term scientific collaboration with Dr. Eric Olson. Their ultimate goal is to delineate the signaling pathways for the formation and function of striated muscle and to use this information to design pharmacologic and genetic therapies for inherited muscle diseases in humans.
