Johannes is a postdoctoral research fellow under the mentorship of Dr. Gregory Newby at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. For his medical doctoral thesis, he investigated the impact of inflammatory processes on the development of aortic aneurysms. After completing medical school, he began clinical training in the Department of Cardiology at the University Hospital of Cologne (Germany), focusing on therapeutic options for endothelial dysfunction and interventional valvular therapies in the context of heart failure. Since February 2024, he has been a member of Prof. Gregory Newby's lab, concentrating on gene editing approaches to address inherited cardiomyopathies.
