Xurde M. Caravia

I completed my Ph.D. in Biomedicine and Molecular Oncology at the University of Oviedo (Spain) in 2019 under the supervision of Dr. Carlos López-Otín and Dr. Alejandro P. Ugalde. In 2020, I joined Dr. Eric Olson’s laboratory at UT Southwestern Medical Center as a Postdoctoral Researcher.

My scientific interests lie in the molecular mechanisms of cardiac and skeletal muscle diseases caused by alterations in nuclear envelope proteins and in utilizing gene editing technologies to combat these devastating conditions. In this regard, I have made substantial scientific contributions, which have been published in high-impact journals.
