In a new study from the Liu laboratory, a phage-assisted continuous evolution (PACE) selection platform has been pioneered that can quickly and efficiently screen and optimise suitable prime editors (a powerful gene-editing technology) that can edit/insert/remove virtually any DNA sequences. Additionally, the study has engineered new prime editing systems that are smaller, more efficient and easier to deliver to patients, making them revolutionary tools to treat many different types of inherited diseases such as cardiomyopathies.
